Go to tripadvisor.com and ask this question. I think I have some bad reviews about the hotel. We stayed at the Sol de Oro in 3 weeks. Have a good trip. Cheers.
Good location in old part of town ... near the church - 10 meters.
Never stayed at the hotel church, but the hotel is near.

No hotels in Hanoi real church, but you can stay very close to the church a little bit (less on foot) the street from the church called Nha Tho, a very beautiful place, easily accessible, near to Lake Hoan Kiem Lake and old streets.
